Glenn began his construction career in 1996, starting as a young laborer and carpenter’s apprentice and progressing to framing homes and later operating his own remodeling company. In 2005, Glenn became a building, plumbing, and mechanical inspector for the City of Westminster, Colorado. He spent the next 13 years at the City, in roles as inspector and plan reviewer, and he earned his Master Code Professional Certification. In 2007, after teaching is first code class, he began his career in writing, teaching, and consulting, while still working full-time for the City.Glenn has authored over 100 technical articles in publications such as “Professional Deck Builder”, “The Journal of Light Construction”, "Fine Homebuilding", and "The Building Safety Journal", as well as the ICC’s book, Deck Construction Based on the 2009 IRC, which is being updated for 2018. Since 2011 he has been a code advisor to the North American Deck and Railing Association, and represented the decking industry in the 2015 and 2021 IRC code development process. He is a professional code educator, with audiences ranging from contractors to building officials at both public and private events. In 2012 he began using technology to make codes more accessible and understandable, and soon opened www.BuildingCodeCollege.com, an ICC Preferred Provider, online school.In spring of 2018, Glenn took the big leap, and after 13 years with the City of Westminster, he left to pursue full-time commitment to code education through BuildingCodeCollege.com.
