So, no buzzwords and no hype:I've been writing code long enough to have created business, academic, speculative, critical, useless, and valuable software. I've gone to the ends:high, low, front, back, and in-between software. In recent years I've beenwriting software meant to be sold as a product, and I like the competition andthe chance to make a difference for good. However, with this kind of software,if it doesn't sell, if it doesn't make money, then it is not helping peopleenough and I am not succeeding. I like open source software, too, if it isused. To be sure, it takes a village: Product Management, QA, Dev Management, DevOps, Sales, and other developers are my team, and I cannot succeed withoutthem, so the organization is super important. I appreciate intelligentleadership and I earn leadership roles. Finally, I like to have fun, to be able to work on hard problems and enjoysuccess with my team. I'm a mathematician by training, and I like theory andits application, so I prefer tools suitable to the abstractions which underliemy work.
