Even though I have been born and raised at a single company (I'm looking at you, Boscov's!) I've done many different things in a variety of settings. I am not unique in that some have been spectacularly successful, most others very good, and the rest just OK. My core professional value, though. In summary. Well, seasoning has taught me that it does not bask in the usual places I previously thought. I might have said it's leadership, professionalism, and integrity. 'Intelligence', 'vision', 'critical thinking', and 'innovation'. And my Big Ideas! But all across America, many people have Big Ideas, and all those same qualities. What really matters is something much less common and far more remarkable. And that thing I do: I specialize in unselfish concern.I think more about my customers, my people, and my organization than I do myself.Intangible? Nebulous? ....Crazy?!? Perhaps. And my unshakable professional core:- I do not care about ego, credit, title, bonus, or palace intrigue. I just want my people and my organization to learn, execute, and celebrate success for our customers and clients.- I talk less and listen more.- And I ask questions about your thoughts.- Talking head leadership has been done to death. I cultivate an uncommon and visual style that adds fun, anticipation, and interest.- I do stuff that's hard.- I trust but verify.- I'm honest about what's broken, and fix it; even if it has never made the newspapers (especially then!).- I stare at something and think "I bet my people have a lot of ideas how we can do that better. Where's my easel?"- Expecting people to be who they're not never succeeds. I match people to positions they're interested in doing and their skill set is a good fit for.- Clear the runway! That's when things really take off!I'd love to make your professional acquaintance!I am fortunate to have discovered what I love to do!
