50 years ago, poet-musician Gil Scott-Heron wrote, “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.” But today, through the rapid adoption of social media, “revolutions” of all kinds ARE being televised.Add to this an increase in the available channels of incoming information (e.g., microblogs, news portals, instant messaging, RSS), and a rapid increase in the production rate of new information, itself, and a question presents itself:How well are companies managing the data explosion and capitalizing on the opportunities it presents? Sorting all of this out – first choosing the format, then optimizing the content, for each possible delivery channel – is what I do, simply put.Along the way, I’ve learned that ● Failed projects are most likely due to failed communication (not lack of funding, technical aptitude or talented people).● Putting complex thoughts into words (and pictures) is still the MOST underrated ability in all of business, if not all of life. The second of these two points is summarized in just a few short words by the main character of the novel Siddhartha who, when asked by a potential employer to prove his job worthiness on a blank sheet of paper, writes, “Writing is good, thinking is better.” In this one simple statement, Siddhartha underscores the point that good writing requires critical thinking, which leads to increased understanding, which is crucial to the task of finding meaning and fulfillment in one’s work as well as life. This is the philosophy I live by. This is the value-added that I bring to whatever I do.If I can be of help, please let me know.
