Projects began with a General Improvement Request by the departments, a department site visit, then estimate, departmental approval to move forward, drawings were developed, construction through our in-house trades or we bid projects out and then provided construction administration.Major Projects: $15M Life Science III Building (site & review of drawings). $22M SIU Materials Technology Center (site & review of drawings).Other Projects (up to &1M): Renovations to Student Center, New Wildlife Annex, Health Services, Anthony Hall Renovations to Quigley Hall, Pulliam Hall, Lingle Hall, Woody Hall, Student Recreation Center New building, Rainbow's End Daycare CenterContributions: Saved significant time/money by enabling quicker project information retrieval through instituting scanner and software package for data retrieval that rendered microfiche process obsolete. Enabled Engineering Services to remain in forefront of funds requests for infrastructure improvements/maintenance by providing projected costs of expected repairs/replacement to PPES Director (after evaluating buildings’ ages, mechanical equipment, steam tunnels, piping, electrical feeders, roofs). Digitally archived 20K architectural/engineering plans by purchasing laser measuring devices, hiring students to field verify buildings, and transferring information into Auto-Cad. Dramatically reduced expenses by bidding out all re-roofing, furniture, blinds, systems furniture, and carpet projects.
