About Glory Oguegbu
Glory Oguegbu is an award-winning climate activist, development entrepreneur, and author working to advance a climate-smart Africa by promoting climate literacy and developing renewable energy projects that give Nigerians access to clean electricity.She is the Founder of Glow Initiative for Economic Empowerment which she established in 2013 as a NYSC corp member to foster community economic growth. Since 2013, Glow Initiative has connected 4,352 households with clean electricity and educated 18,562 students on climate change. At the heart of Glow Initiative's mission is Climate Smart Nigeria, an ambitious environmental program designed to combat low climate literacy in Africa. Fueled by a passion for bridging the gap in Climate knowledge, Glory authored five books (amzn.to/3L1T9TV) tailored to African contexts.In 2019, she achieved another milestone by creating Africa's first contextualized climate education learning toolkits which made debut at the UN's COP 25 in Spain.She created the Renewable Energy Technology Training Institute (RETTI) in 2019 to promote electricity access which will benefit 93 million Nigerians by training and preparing new solar installers. RETTI has trained 3000+ engineers who provided electricity for 4500 homes and offset 840, 000 tonnes of C02 through installations.In 2020, she created the RETTI Virtual University, Africa’s first online education platform for easy access and affordable renewable energy education. In 2021, She created the Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders and the Climate Leadership Fellowship to groom the next generation of leaders who will drive the energy transition and promote climate resilience.
