Sorprendentemente, muy pocos habitantes del mundo tienen conocimiento acerca de tan particular ecosistema y, tristemente, esto incluye a los propios… Show more El Corredor Ecológico Llanganates-Sangay (CELLS) es una de las zonas más biodiversas del mundo, distinguido por su alto endemismo, increíble diversificación de especies, abundancia de agua, riqueza de espacios sagrados ancestrales, y su inconcluso inventario - cada año se están descubriendo nuevas especies de plantas y animales aquí. Sorprendentemente, muy pocos habitantes del mundo tienen conocimiento acerca de tan particular ecosistema y, tristemente, esto incluye a los propios habitantes de la zona. Hay una gran falta de conocimiento y conciencia sobre la ecología y biología del CELLS. Al mismo tiempo la creciente destrucción de los hábitats naturales, de la mano de pequeñas comunidades que tratan de sustentarse y de grandes compañías que causan igual impacto sobre estos entornos, está poniendo en riesgo el futuro de la rica biodiversidad y recursos naturales de la zona.Fundación Fauna de la Amazonía trabaja dentro del CELLS y nuestro proyecto se basa en poner en marcha mecanismos efectivos e innovadores que permitan a las comunidades conservar sus bosques y la biodiversidad que albergan, y al mismo tiempo satisfacer algunas de sus prioridades de desarrollo (educación, salud, generación de ingresos).
