Supporting UK space launch by undertaking Launch Vehicle (rocket) Flight Safety Analysis (FSA) and re-entry safety analysis by way of trajectory design & optimisation (nominal and malfunction), LV break-up, and debris modelling. We use a combination of COTS and in-house tools. Our independent analysis assists assessment of licence applications as well as informing UK space policy decisions.

Analysis of atmospheric re-entry incorporating hypersonic aerodynamics, ablation, chemical dissociation & plasma flow. Here I undertook related trajectory analysis and associated re-entry vehicle flight dynamics. A deeply technical role coupling structures, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, flight-dynamics, material-response and thermal protection system performance. In this role I was routinely programming in Python and Fortran, and used uncertainty toolsets to provide stochastic results through methods such as Monte Carlo.

AeroTex is a consultancy focused on aircraft icing. Starting initially as a subcontractor, my activities included CFD (OpenFOAM), wind tunnel validation, propeller analyses, etc.. At AeroTex I worked extensively with Python and Fortran programming, and setup and maintained a Linux HPC. Additionally I worked heavily with Siemen's FEMAP and NX Nastran for structural dynamics analyses.

Contracting in software development and engineering. Examples of contracts include undertaking aerodynamic (CFD) analysis of a European STOL aircraft and structural analyses (FEA) for a newly modified large rotorcraft, Python and web development (LAMP stacks), amongst many others.

Working on aircraft aerodynamic analysis using 3D CFD tools (Panel, Euler and RANS), aeroelastics and high lift optimisation. Focused on civil customers I was initially based in the Civil Aerodynamics R&D group. A majority of my work consisted of toolset development by programming in Fortan, C++, Python, Java and MATLAB/Octave.

Working part-time managing IT and ICT in this small company. Tasks included setting up and maintaining a small office network, the design of stationary, problem solving and data backup.

Working mainly for friends and small local businesses. Websites utilised the common LAMP server set-up i.e. Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP. Programming languages used include HTML/XHMTL, CSS, PHP, MySQL and XML. From dynamic to static sites, and utilising Content Management Systems (CMS) or bespoke systems.
