System Coordinator Off-Site Activities
The Calgary Board of Education is the largest school board in Western Canada. 222 + Schools and 100000+ Students. The CBE would complete 12,000+ field trips per year annually.This position provides functional effective, and adaptive leadership for the risk assessment of educational activities occurring off school property. This position is responsible for providing expertise for the organizational oversight and coordination of safety, security and risk management to Superintendents, Directors, Principals, Teachers and Service Units.• Developing and implementing system wide Risk Management for Field Trips and Work Experience• Updating, authoring and editing the Off-Site Activities and Procedures Manual• Authored the CBE Internal Climbing Wall Manual• Authored the CBE Volunteer Training Manual• Responsible for site inspections, hazard assessments, approving and rejecting trips• Developing system wide Risk Tolerances statements and limits through risk analysis • Providing Teacher, Principal and system administrative training on Risk Management• Providing and developing Professional Development opportunities for staff for environmental and wilderness based field trips.• Writing Risk Management Plans, Emergency Response Plans, Communication plans for various CBE activities• In charge of maintaining and executing 3rd party Master Service Agreements for Providers. Includes site inspections, instructional standards inspections, activity restrictions and contracts. Also responsible for reviewing Emergency Response Plans to minimize vicarious liability.Ensure 3rd parties meet industry best practices/standards, legislative and legal requirements.• Monitors and reviews near misses, incidents and accidents that occur on activities off of school property.• Represents the CBE to industry associations, conference, workshops on various aspects of duty of care, safety, security and risk management
