After the successful growth in the USA of the push-to-connect fitting, SharkBite, I was promoted to a business role focussed on new market opportunities.-Develop the release strategy and technical requirements for new markets (Europe, South America)-Connect the interests of marketing, sales, engineering and production pre-launch● Jointly developed the European team and business plan for capital expenditure, strategy and sales● Provided technical advice at the executive level on product design and quality

My ongoing passion in sustainability was recognised by the executive team and I was the natural point of contact for projects which impacted the environmental credentials of the company.- Evaluate new products and production improvements to minimise water and energy use- Coordinate sustainability projects for cost saving and customer promotion● Chaired national committee on hydronic heating and cooling systems at PPIG, the peak body for plumbing suppliers● Developed a Corporate Sustainability Plan● Guided the transition from traditional brass to lead-free materials● Promoted the industry-wide adoption of high-quality standards to maximise product life (DZR Brass, Rubber Materials)

After relocating to Melbourne to establish the factory to produce the SharkBite fitting, I oversaw the engineering development in growing the production of brass fittings and PEX tubing during the rapid expansion of the sales of SharkBite in the USA. ● Completed a study of the Investment Casting process for the production of soft-tooling for rapid prototyping of small production runs, where 3D Printing was uneconomic. ● Attempted to integrate the FEA simulation of the thermal distortion into the 3D Printing process by automatically reversing the distortion in the CAD model at the meshing stage.● Directly measured the effects of thermal contraction, phase change expansion and mould wall expansion in real-time using high temperature probes and high speed data logging equipment.

One year secondment during PhD studies to develop skills and investigate the state of the art in casting simulation, particularly in the field of mechanical simulation of the thermal contraction that occurs during metal casting.
