G M Rakibul Islam works as an Assistant Professor (Education) at the Department of Educational Administration of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh, where he is developing future leaders and managers for education sector of Bangladesh. He has published multiple articles in national and international journals and book chapters on educational issues. Prior to joining NSTU, Rakib spent 7 years managing education projects and developing teachers’ capacity at a2i program, Ministry of Education and British Council Bangladesh. Rakib holds a Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Manchester, UK.

The Education Team of a2i has been working on innovative educational solutions for more than a decade. At present we are implementing problem based learning project in 30 primary schools to identify its effectiveness on students. At the same time, we are working on popularizing e-Learning among unskilled, semiskilled and skilled Bangladeshi people. Besides, we are developing a project for improving reading skill of primary school children that they can achieve their level based competence.

We work with a whole-of-government approach applying behaviour change methodologies and leveraging the rapid expansion of technologies to foster truly unprecedented transformations that are taking public services to citizens’ doorsteps and increasingly within the palms of their hands – the promise of a Digital Bangladesh.

Organising workshops for Training Manual Development, developing teachers' training manual, conducting training need identification and baseline study, monitoring ongoing training programs, facilitating training sessions, contributing to policy formulation and meeting stakeholders.

As a Lecturer in Education, I was involved in lecturing a group of school teachers. Along with these teacher students there were some students who wanted to join schools as well. I was also involved in continuous professional development of the teachers. In addition, I have worked with some distinguished researchers on different educational issues with the research grants of the Ministry of Education of Bangladesh.Under my guidance 3 of my students (all of them are primary school teachers) of Master of Education did their masters dissertations.

As a practicum teacher I taught the students of primary and secondary grade. It was mandatory for my graduation in Education. I taught students Bengali, Science, Mathematics.
