Voluntary Time And Knowledge Contribution - 7 Hours Per Week

AKF-USA and USAID is implementing a a multi-year partnership titled 'Local Impact' to enable rural poor to overcome their poverty through integrated approaches to rural development. The Local Impact programme is being implemented in parts of Central-and- South Asia, and Africa. I'm contributing 7 hours per week - mostly remotely, and advise their monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL) teams on evaluation designs, impact evaluations, and learning synthesis for capturing and utilizing development outcomes. This is a volunteer ‘time-and-knowledge’ contribution I have pledged to AKF-USA.1 - Advised on evaluation designs and impact evaluations for AKF-USA and USAID's 'Local Impact' initiative, a multiyear project spanning South and Central Asia. The guidance provided was integral to enhancing strategic approaches, leading to more effective and impactful program design and implementation.2 - Advised commissioning of independent impact evaluation of ‘accelerate prosperity programme’ simultaneously in 03 countries: Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Pakistan synthesizing learning and insights for developing youth-led gender equality and social inclusion focused enterprises development.3 - Advised commissioning of the independent learning review of the initiative’s ‘human centered development (HCD) approaches and associated 20 HCD-led solutions in Kyrgyzstan Tajikistan.

Afghanistan

Base in the Evaluation, Research, and Learning Unit (ERLU), participated in the implementation of USD. + 113 million/year multi-sector, stabilization and rural development program in Afghanistan, encompassing civil society engagement, infrastructure development, agriculture, food security, livelihoods, health, and education.1 - Designed and executed targeted case studies, generating vital evidence that guided the development of effective pro-poor socioeconomic projects, significantly contributing stabilization and development in humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. 2 - Led evaluation of cross boarder (Afghanistan-Tajikistan) Pamir Energy exchange programme recommending actionable insights for socio economic development of rural poor along both sides of the boarder benefiting more than 1800 rural households. 3 - Coordinated and facilitated district development assemblies (DDAs), played a pivotal role in advancing their development planning processes and achieving strategic objectives for stabilization and development.4 - Led the training of M&E professionals in evaluation and learning, impact evaluations using mixed-method approaches, significantly boosting evaluation capabilities oflocal M&E professionals and enhancing quality of evaluation and learning. 5 - Performed capacity needs assessments for Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) institutions in Afghanistan, prompting the launch of a key Capacity Development Programme. This initiative has successfully groomed leaders now steering AKDN institutions through Afghanistan's challenging landscape.

Institute For Educational Development

- Led development of an M&E system for the flagship ‘Strengthening Teacher Education in Pakistan’ (STEP) programme. - Established a ‘Quasi Experimental Design’ in order assess the effectiveness and impacts of this programme.- Ensured that a functioning Education Management Information System (EMIS) is well place.- Led monitoring missions to programme regions, prepared actionable recommendations on effectiveness programme implementation and achievement of objectives.- Conducted multiple training programmes on qualitative data analysis using SPSS and STATA.

Pakistan

- Led development of an M&E system for the flagship ‘Releasing Confidence and Creativity’ RCC programme (Early Childhood Education and Development Programme) of AKESP. RCC laid the foundation of ECED in Gilgit-Baltistan, and Sindh provinces of Pakistan.- Conducted baseline and mid-line studies for RCC programme.- Ensured that a functioning Education Management Information System (EMIS) is well in place at national as well as sub-national (regional) level.- Ensured annual progress reports are timely prepared and submitted.- Lead monitoring missions to programme regions, and provided recommendations on effectiveness of programme implementation and achievement of objectives.- Coordinated ECED research with AKDN Geneva office.

Directorate Of Population Welfare Department, Gilgit-Baltistan

Based in the directorate of population welfare department of Gilgit-Baltistan, I held the role of ensuring the successful implementation of Mother and Child Health (MCH), and WASH activities while simultaneously managing various administrative tasks within the department. 1 - Efficiently prepared and delivered comprehensive progress reports on a monthly, quarterly, biannual, and annual basis for the Ministry, ensuring transparency and facilitating informed decision making based on consistent, detailed program analysis.2- Successfully conducted in-depth MCH surveys for the Ministry, providing valuable insights and data that informed and improved provincial MCH strategies and WASH interventions.3 - Developed and submitted detailed annual work and cash plans to the ministry, ensuring efficient resource allocation and strategic planning, which significantly enhanced the effectiveness of ministry operations and projects.4 - Oversaw and streamlined internal and external administrative functions of the directorate of population welfare, adeptly managing a team of over 250 staff across Gilgit-Baltistan, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and team productivity.
