Based in Christchurch, Waitaki Biosciences develops, manufactures and produces natural health supplements which are sold globally at a wholesale level.This role coveres all areas of design and visual communication for Waitaki Biosciences and its publicly listed parent Company, PharmaZen. Within in my time we also created and launched two consumer facing brands; AiOra Natural Supplements and Waitaki Pet Treats.Across all these brands there is a wide amount of skills required including working with multiple teams throughout the business as well as key stakeholders including numerous third party suppliers. There are several core tasks in this role which primarily focuses around supporting the sales, marketing and business development teams on each brand and on all design and visual communication formats. This could be designing a suite of branding for a new product, a full booth at one of the various international trade-shows we attend each year, packaging for all products which we pack in-house using the best packaging responsibilities we can. This was also creating and publishing adverts across social media platforms.This role works closely with the Managing Director on business development communication and material for shareholders and investors, as well the Finance team on financial documentation and reporting. There is work for the Research and Development team, the Quality team and the Health and Safety team covering a huge variety of tasks.This role is a key stakeholder in the businesses Intellectual Property (IP) which predominantly includes trademarks, patents and domains. This involves working with IP lawyers locally and overseas in regions where the business protects new brands and products across the Company portfolio. Working across this broad role I have gained many new skills yet still retain my responsibility as a designer to find the most logical and environmentally friendly solutions for my work.
