Since joining IBM in 2000 as a z/VSE developer, I’ve learned much about z/VSE history, the need for enhancements in response to customer needs, the importance of z/VSE integration and extension within IT hybrid strategies, and more. I’ve seen my fair share of technical z/VSE advancements over these last 20+ years, but what’s especially stood out to me is the importance of continued investment in z/VSE development and support, enabling customers to effectively drive business. z/VSE customers and partners are such an important part of the IBM Z ecosystem, and the most effective way to support them is through investing in and revitalizing the z/VSE platform. Working within the IBM Z ecosystem has taught me the value of respecting customer decisions as well—whether they want to work directly with me or with a business partner. At the end of the day, it’s a collaborative process where we all work to meet the customer’s business needs with z/VSE, Linux and Virtualization on Z —whatever it may be. With the importance of z/VSE customer support and collaboration in mind, I’m proud to be working on the 21st Century Software team, given the company’s recent agreement to license the z/VSE operating system and middleware from IBM. Like me, 21st Century Software is committed to investing in VSEn development and support to ensure the platform is consistently meeting the quality our customers and partners expect from us.
