After the Dayton Peace Accords brought an end to the war of 1992-1995, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) stood at a crossroads: the path of peace and reconciliation on one side; the path to ethnic division and conflict on the other. I was on the ground working with the US Embassy and Partners for Development from 1995-1997. I would never take credit for "raising" USAID funds... Since 1996, the US Government, primarily through USAID, has provided more than $1.7B to BiH to to support democratic, social, and economic progress. I don't count that in my personal portfolio! I've raised money the hard way, often $10,000 at a time... Weeks' summative article on the Deliberative Democracy experience, published in Public Administration Review, is a key resource for the field. The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) University, a credentialing program that trains and tests local government managers in a set of essential competencies and skills, is a direct result of Weeks' work. In her own community, the Goddess smiles every time she drives by the Eugene Library, Lane Community College, Eugene Mission, Civic Park, Sacred Heart at RiverBend, Eugene YMCA, and many Main Streets and parks in the area knowing she played a small part in building her community.Lori was educated at the University of California, San Diego and the University of Oregon.
