I led the global UX/UI organization for the Consumer Applications and Services division in HP’s personal systems Group (HP PSG). I directed our UX/UI teams in the US and China, made up of HCI professionals, UI designers and front-end developers. We delivered innovative UI for HP consumer products including consumer web applications and services, mobile software, and PC software. In addition to UI design/development, my design team was responsible for customer research and product usability. Some of the products my team was responsible for included:- User experience and design of Android based netbook and tablet products.- User experience and design of Chrome-OS based netbook and tablet products.- Several WebOS applications.- HP TouchSmart PCs and Windows based HP Slate products.- Setup software for all Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs shipped worldwide.- Creation and deployment of a UI design system for all consumer software and web properties worldwide; detailing our design principles, interaction patters, and visual system.- UI framework and code libraries implementing the design standards, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript libraries.

I was a research manager at HP Labs in Palo Alto, HP’s advanced research group. In the labs I led multi-disciplinary teams of design researchers, software researchers, and software engineers working on solutions to challenging customer problems using advanced technologies that are just now coming to market . We were focused on innovation and measured on transferring innovation into HP product lines. Projects included ubicomp, smart appliance, and context-aware mobile technologies and platforms (HP Cooltown), multi-sensor gaming/augmented reality technology and platforms (HP Mediascapes), and innovative UI models for a range of products from social computing to large multi-user multi-touch displays.

I was one of the founders of an internal design & development studio in HP that delivered many of the first web sites and web applications at HP. I was responsible for delivering many large scale web services; including innovative experiences and capabilities to HP consumer, commercial, and enterprise customers. Later I was one of the founders of the HP.com organization. At HP.com I was the platform architect responsible for the architecture and design of many key components of the HP.com platform (UI standards, customer accounts, session management, content management).
