Thinking, doing and imagination go hand in hand if we want to make tomorrow's economy in co-creation.Over the past four and a half years, the group developed into a research community in which lecturer-researchers, companies, artists, interest organisations and civil society organisations work together on two lines of research:- Collective economies: collaborative chains/systems, changing the commercial mindset, ethics in entrepreneurship, civic initiatives, disruptive practices in degrowth, commons and commoning, human rights in entrepreneurship. In cooperation with The Future of work Foundation- Nature inclusive economies: food system transition, soil-driven economy, restorative practices/economy, posthuman economy in coorperation with De Plaatsen Nederland en de Kleine Aarde.The aim of all our research is to give as many people and organisations as possible tools to help shape an economy they want.For that reason, we share our research and research results in an accessible way in places that are accessible to everyone. We make podcasts, films, performances, give lectures and write blogs, stories and articles (see attached list). Op en rond De Kleine Aarde ontwikkelen we boerenprogramma’s en werken we actief mee aan het opzetten van een regionaal lerend boerennetwerk. Belangrijk daarbij is dat alle deelnemers echt mee op reis gaan, voor de langere termijn. Daarom is er ook veel aandacht voor het welzijn en de persoonlijke ontwikkeling van de boeren en andere plaatsgenoten.Daarnaast komen er op De Kleine Aarde onder meer programma’s rondom nieuwe economie. We werken met kennis uit de praktijk maar nodigen ook kunstenaars uit voor een meer speculatieve blik op de toekomst. In de Plaatsen kenniscoalitie staat samen leren centraal. The platform questions the economic system from an ideological and an everyday perspective by making proposals for acting differently, making different choices and telling new stories about economics. It brings about new forms of collaboration and sustainable strategies around work and the economy, and proposes visions and stories to stimulate dialogue about what the economy looks like when our needs become secondary to the demands for a healthy ecosystem and a just society.There is a growing awareness that our Western economy is based on overexploitation. It is preying on nature, raw materials and the landscape. The earth and man are literally being exhausted. This overexploitation causes global warming, pollution of the environment and exploitation of large groups of people. It threatens not only human well-being, but has existential consequences for all life. Our capitalist system ignores the consequences of economic growth and promotes lifestyles based on unsustainable consumption and material satisfaction. While economics was for decades the domain of unquestioned theories of scarcity, free market forces and limited government regulation, today most of these theories are virtually obsolete. The economy is the housekeeping of the earth that we conduct together. It is the fabric of agreements, traditions, value systems and relationships between the individual and the collective, human nature and technology that gives shape to the economy.
