I manage the team of copy editors and paginators responsible for putting together the print edition of The Globe and Mail newspaper.

I was part of a team responsible for copy editing, headline writing, and page design of all sections of the Toronto Star's print product (and sometimes other Torstar dailies such as the Hamilton Spectator and the Waterloo Region Record), as well as occasionally posting stories online to thestar.com.

I completed a summer secondment as a team editor on the Toronto Star's production desk. My responsibilities included designing the newspaper's front page, assigning breaking news stories to reporters, editing and posting stories to thestar.com, choosing photos and stories for the paper, and approving pages before they went to the printer.

I managed a team of about 14 employees who copy edited and designed pages for our client, U.S.-based daily newspapers the Virginian-Pilot and the Daily Press. In addition to overseeing nightly workflow and page approvals, my responsibilities included hiring, scheduling, coaching staff, troubleshooting, and ensuring we stayed on budget while maintaining a high standard of journalism. (For the first four months of this stint, I worked as a copy editor/team leader on the Virginia desk, before being promoted.)

I was responsible for overseeing the nightly print production of all five StarMetro newspapers across Canada — published in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Halifax. I managed the workflow and a team of editors to ensure we met tight deadlines and maintained a high standard of journalism and page design worthy of the Torstar brand.

I was part of a team of editors responsible for page design, display writing, copy editing, proofreading and online editing of the Toronto Star, Canada's largest daily newspaper. At Pagemasters, I frequently acted as a team leader, guiding a team of more than a dozen people working on multiple sections of the newspaper, to ensure that tight deadlines and high editorial standards were met.

My responsibilities included researching popular novels, writing e-newsletters, editing literary discussion guides and formatting them in QuarkXPress, writing book reviews, building and updating the website, and responding to customer inquiries via email.
