I'm a freelance solution architect.Specialized in the development of large scale distributed software on the Microsoft Azure platform.I fell into this role from the very beginning of my career. In 2001, while still in college, I was requested to design the first online routeplanner for the Flemish public transport company 'De Lijn'.Over the years I designed several systems. Some for large scale multinationals and government agencies, others for smaller local companies. Some well known brand names that you may have heard about include Fluxys, Barco, Q-Park, Particular Software, Capgemini, Cegeka, and many more...All of the engagements have two traits in common:- They leverage the Microsoft technology stack- I'm not allowed to talk about their internal workingsThe first trait allowed me to develop technical expertise in this area. I was the first Microsoft Azure MVP in Belgium, and have been awarded this honor for 10 years in a row.The second trait is a problem, as I like to share my learnings in presentations, user groups (I founded Azug.be) and online content as well. The solution to this problem came from an unexpected angle: my children. They started playing basketball... and I got sucked into the management of our club. Basket Lummen is one of the largest clubs in Flanders, amateur on paper but semi-professional in practice, with over 400 playing members and a team in Top Division Women. As I like to continuously innovate, trying out latest evolutions in technology and architecture, in my spare time anyway, I decided to automate the club as much as possible. So clubmanagement.io was born, a SAAS for managing amateur sports clubs.ClubManagement allows me to practice all skills of a product lifecycle, from discovery to delivery and distribution. And it provides me the real life examples I need for the content I want to share with the community. If you are interested to follow my work more closely, consider checking out my blog at www.goeleven.com.
