I got sucked into the HR dimension 15 years ago and never left. I was going to school for Psychology and Counseling because I love people. I worked part-time in the HR department of a retail corporate office filing documents, answering phones, and completing administrative tasks. I didn't fall in love with the paperwork... I fell in love with making a positive impact on an employee’s experience. The best part of what I do is creating relationships with employee. It truly brings me joy. I love hearing all about their personal and professional achievements! Fast forward to today, I have climbed the HR ladder from Assistant, all the way to a Senior HR Generalist with aspiration to climb even higher.HR operates differently across a multitude of industries and organizations, but being there for the people should be the common thread at any company. I hear often that HR lacks business knowledge, only cares about the company and are always ready to shut down the fun… all far from true! I want to unite with like minded HR professionals that can help put these stereotypes to rest because we work hard behind the scenes advocating for the people while protecting the company. It is a delicate balance, but so rewarding. I believe transparency, communication, integrity, compassion, and forming partnerships are the key to creating a great place to work, no matter where that is. I want to be an integral part in creating and fostering an inclusive, respectful, and empowering work environment.
