Amsterdam

Value: 16m€Client: Booking.com Site: Booking.com’ new HQ- This contract consisted in designing, producing and installing the façade panels (curtain wall) for the new HQ of Booking.com in Amsterdam, Netherlands.Responsibilities:- Sole responsibility of technical documentation for all Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Logistics Plans and Lifting Plans; - Technical Inspections and Handovers with the Client;- Implementation of the BIM360 software in the project and later-on within the whole company.Key Achievement:- Completion of the Project Handover with no major comments or remarks from the Structural and Architectural Consultants;- Duly implementation of the BIM360 software in the project and subsequently within the several departments of the company, allowing for better internal and intercompany design and structural communication.Value: 8m€Client: Capco Site: Lillie Square – Earl´s Court, Chelsea – London- This contract consisted in designing, producing and installing the façade panels (curtain wall) for 4 buildings in Chelsea, London.Responsibilities:- Shared responsibility for development of technical documentation: Risk Assessments, Method Statement, Logistics Plans, Lifting Plans and Lift Plans for the project;- Site coordination of the curtain wall façade panels installation; - Weekly and Monthly Progress Reports to Senior Project Management team, in Amsterdam.Key Achievement:- Setting up, coordination and monitoring of installation teams on this highly demanding Project;- The several stages of the project were completed as per schedule and fulfilling the project’s technical demands;- Completion of the curtain wall façade panels installation within the tolerances set by this high-end Client.

Value: 10m€, Client: Apple Inc.Site: Apple’s new Campus- This contract consisted in designing, producing and installing the roofs, soffits and canopy blades for Apple’s new Campus, in Cupertino, California.Responsibilities:- Sole responsibility of technical documentation for all Risk Assessments and Method Statements; - On-site permanent support for Design issues related to the roofs, soffits and canopy blades;- I was the first point of contact on site for all trades, relating to PCT’ scope of work;- Coordination of the teams installing the roofs, soffits and canopy blades;- Planning the weekly and monthly tasks as per Apple's demanding schedule;- Daily Progress Reports to Project Management team, in Dubai.Key Achievement:- Installation of bespoke and unique free-standing carbon-fiber structures;- Installation of soffits and canopy blades for the whole project;- Successfully completion of the project in-line with Apple’s highly demanding standards;- Timely reporting of all design issues thus detecting and preventing major structural and design occurrences.Value: 4.7m€, Client: Apple Inc.Sites: Los Angeles Apple StorePhoenix Apple Store- These contracts consisted in designing, producing and installing the roofs, brows and soffits for these 2 Apple StoresResponsibilities:- Sole responsibility of technical documentation for all Risk Assessments and Method Statements; - Coordination of the Installation team and sub-contractors installing the roofs, brows and soffits in the USA;- I was the first point of contact on site for Design issues, relating to PCT’ scope of work;- Planning works as per Apple's demanding schedule;- Daily Progress Reports to Project Management team, in Dubai.Key Achievement:- Successful coordination of the different teams and sub-contractors during the installation works;- Technical Design of the brows and soffits for both stores using a design concept that allowed for the 2 projects to be done in a cost-efficient.

Value: 8m€, Client: Apple Inc.Site: Dubai Apple store - This contract consisted in designing 18 mechanical-operated sunshade screens approximately 11m high by 3m wide located on the balcony area of the new Dubai Apple Store Responsibilities:- Shared responsibility for development of technical documentation: Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the project, alongside with the Commissioning Engineer; - Coordination of the Installation team;- Technical Design of the mechanical-operated Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer sunshade screens for Dubai’s new Apple Store.Key Achievement:- Design of mechanical-operated sand-proof carbon-fibre sunshade screens which, at date, were the biggest of its kind;- After the project conclusion I prepared and issued the Operations & Maintenance Manual for the sunshade screens in order for Apple to plan and undertake all adequate and required maintenance procedures during the sunscreens lifetime.

Lisbon, Portugal

Formwork Site Engineer, Marão Tunnel, Teixeira Duarte, PortugalValue: 89m€, Client: Portuguese Government- This construction consisted in constructing 2 tunnels in a total length of 13,2 km (5,6 km each).Responsibilities:- I managed the formwork (4 Self Reacting Tunnel Formwork) and concreting teams, in a total of 60 men (including one Junior Civil Engineer Trainee, foremen, staff and workers);- Training, development and mentorship of an Assistant Civil Engineer;- Planning of formwork and concreting operations, including the submission of the weekly program of works to be approved by the Client.Key Achievement:- Completion of mentorship of the Assistant Civil Engineer, leading to his admission as a qualified Civil Engineer;- Successfully completed construction, executing 286,000 m² of formwork and 193,000 m³ of applied reinforced concrete, within the deadline and budget;- Successful completion of the tunnels walls with thickness between 0,50m-1,75m.

Soyo, Angola

Formwork Design Engineer, Pier Marine Operations Support Dock, Teixeira Duarte, Angola Value: 24m€, Client: Angola Liquefied Natural Gas (ALNG) which is the major Liquefied Natural Gas producer in Angola and it’s composed by some of the biggest companies in the world: BP, Total, Chevron, Eni and Sonangol. - The construction consisted in the execution of a 300 m long pier in the mouth of the Congo River where tides and geological conditions were very hard;- The work was divided in two phases:Phase 1 consisted of prefabrication of the structural elements (beams and pre-slabs);Phase 2 consisted of placing the prefabricated elements ' in- situ ' and concreting of the final slab.Responsibilities:- I was responsible for designing the formwork of the prefabricated beams and pre-slabs of the pier;- I was also responsible for the design of the suspended formwork for the final slab on phase 2;- I managed both the formwork and the concreting teams on site with a total of 50 men.Key Achievement:- The demanding specifications for the prefabricated beams and pre-slabs were completely fulfilled both in quality and deadline;- Successfully completed construction within the deadline and budget in a total of 8,000m² of formwork and 2,000m³ of applied reinforced concrete (Phase 1 + Phase 2);- All the works were concluded within within the tight security measures the central gas required;- The suspended formwork was a purposely designed for that Pier and involved a multidisciplinary team, which I led and developed a specific suspended formwork to suit the required design.

Luanda, Angola

Formwork Site Engineer, New National Assembly of Angola, Teixeira Duarte, Angola Value: 415m€, Client: Angolan Government- The new National Assembly Angola is divided into 4 blocks of 6 floors (2 underground ) with a 540,000m² building area, including technical, security, offices, meeting rooms, plenary, catering and recreational areas.- The construction included 11,000 ton of steel, 70,000 m³ of concrete, 370 ton of metallic structure, 200,000 m² of formwork and 25,000 m² of scaffolding.Responsibilities:- I was in charge of the design of all formwork and scaffoding according to the highest European standards;- I was responsible for the formwork, concreting and scaffolding teams, which I had to organize from the beginning with a 14% of expats and 86% local workers. At the peak of the production, I managed a team of 140 people (including staff, foremen and workers), in a total amount of 8 million €.- Under my responsibility there were all market consultations, procurement of equipment and materials for the formwork and scaffolding as well as the preparation for the Client approval;- The equipment’s were as varied as metallic, fiberglass, wood, aluminium and styrofoam.- I was responsible for all the technical notes for the formwork works as well as the approval of all materials and equipment used is the formwork and scaffolding tasks by the Client.Key Achievement:- Successfully completed construction, executing 200,000 m² of formwork, 70,000 m³ of concrete and 25,000 m² of scaffolding, within the deadline and budget;- Successful approval of all equipment and materials by the client;- Successful completion of all the complex structural elements such as 0,75m thick walls, double height slabs (8 m-10 m) and round columns and walls;- Development of training sections for the local workers to improve their knowledge in the equipment and construction techniques used by the company.

Lisbon, Portugal

Trainee Engineer, Factory “Paper Machine 4”, Teixeira Duarte, Portugal Value: 38m€, Client: Portucel-Soporcel- The site consisted in building the second biggest paper factory in the world, at date, for one of the biggest producers in the worldResponsibilities:- During this 3 years, I worked directly with the Production Director of the of the Scaffolding, Formwork and Prestressed Department in the formwork of the Factory “Paper Machine 4”;- Design and approval - by the Client - of all materials and equipment used in the formwork and scaffolding operations.Key Achievement:- The demanding Finnish specifications for the Paper Machine were fully fulfilled within the deadline;- The works were concluded within budget.

Covilhã - Portugal

In the last year of my Engineering course, I was involved in two research programs: one involved the use of ash of mines (wastes from mineral extraction in the Minas Panasqueira, Covilhã, Portugal) in new types of concrete and the other research program involved providing expert advice of building and bridges in the Serra da Estrela area. I also lectured the class of Construction Materials to 3rd year Architecture students of the Beira Interior University.
