I am part of the award-winning Actis Sustainability team. I lead the pre-investment DD process for large, infrastructure investments across the globe and I restructure and support our portfolio in becoming sustainability leaders during the holding period. This includes building the sustainability function and governance structure, and framing and implementing sustainability-linked value creation strategies, E&S risk management, inclusion & diversity, Net Zero / Climate Change, and community investment strategies focusing on maximising impact and building the social licence.

London

I spent 3+y implementing international lender / DFI ESG standards across direct, single, and double intermediated investments. I worked across sectors (including infrastructure, power, food & agri, healthcare, education, telecom, venture capital, SMEs and financial institutions) and different financial instruments (public / private bonds, equity, debt, funds, guarantees and M&A).The standards I implemented include the WB / IFC E&S Sustainability Framework (Performance Standards and EHS guidelines), EDFI harmonization frameworks, human rights, supply chain risks, biodiversity, gender-based violence and harassment, fossil fuel policies and climate change risks – TCFD.

Dubai / Bangkok / Madrid

Physical asset: I delivered services to secure finance, obtain permits and monitor compliance from an environmental and social perspective (ESIA, RAP, LRP, ESMS, ESMP, and construction / operational audits). I focused mostly in the power (conventional and renewable), real state and water treatment / wastewater management sectors in the Middle East, Africa and Central & South East Asia. I work mainly for Equator Principles or Multilateral banks funded assets or developers.Corporate: I provided support to multinational organizations to improve their systems and processes to manage the ESG risks associated to its business operations. My work included developing and supporting the implementation of corporate ESMS and building ES teams / creating an E&S governance structure to ensure effective delivery across global operations. Government Advisory: I provided advisory services to an environmental statutory body in the Middle East to define and introduce new regulation, specifically, a regulatory framework to determine environmental compliance/enforcement procedures, and water efficiency and wastewater management regulation.

Madrid - Seville

I assessed the environmental impacts associated to new waste-to-energy technology / processes (patents) and other waste management solutions (engineered landfills, lixiviate treatments, etc.). I also planned the implementation and commissioning of new projects, supervised intermediate construction works and managed external suppliers/contractors. I conducted research on circular economy aspects and contributed to scientific reports on sustainable waste management in coordination with European research institutes.

Oslo Area, Norway

My main responsibility included planning and conducting fieldwork to monitor the environmental impact of wind power projects. Fieldwork included sampling of terrestrial and freshwater fauna, and flora species (coverage and migration patterns of newly introduced species). I compared data with previous records and conducted statistical analyses.
