As a Project Engineer at Britannia Refined Metals, my main responsibility was to ensure the fulfilment of the Control of Mayor Accidents Hazards (COMAH regulations). Due to these regulations, a reduction of the natural gas pressure on the system was required in order to decrease the likelihood of having an explosive atmosphere and therefore, meet DSEAR regulations.• Manage the project from conception to completion, to schedule and within budget.• Take part on the HAZID and ENVID workshops for COMAH. • Responsible for the control and coordination of all the contractors and suppliers.• Monitor cost expenditure against estimates and report cost position in a weekly basis.• Piping design and calculations to meet site quality and safety standards.• Natural gas regulator station designs.• Responsible for the day-to-day management and deliverable completion of the engineering aspects, managing available resources, by an agreed date to agreed safety standards and an agreed quality within an agreed budget.• Liaise with suppliers to prepare cost estimates including materials, labour, design and supervision.• Preparation of detailed specifications/designs for the fabrication/purchase of the installations and various constructions.• Thorough knowledge of COMAH and DSEAR regulations and IGEM, EN-746 standards.• Undertake site risk assessments, ensuring safety standards and regulations are met.• Preparation of the final technical file including general arrangement drawing, P&IDs, list of standards applied, records of risk assessments and assessments to standards, datasheets, parts list, operating instructions (user, maintenance, installation), test reports, quality control & commissioning procedures and declaration of Conformity.
