About Jane Goodwin

Given my role as a member of the public service, I note that the views shared on this platform are my own and not on behalf of my employer Along with my passion for empowering resolutions I combine my strong organisational skills and resourcefulness to provide tailored approaches, responsive to each situation, facilitating every party to feel heard. As a highly experienced Alternative Dispute Resolution Practitioner I have high level verbal and written communication skills which I continue to develop throughout my ongoing professional development. My communication skills are demonstrated through my case noting, delivery of group presentations, recording agreements, networking with internal and external stakeholders and working as part of a team.  My ability to build rapport with clients is clearly demonstrated through my experience, as I have conducted more than 1000 hours of client intake and assessment and approximately 700 hours of Mediation. This has taught me to problem solve, provide referrals and information and to seek creative solutions addressing the needs of each dispute.  My ability to liaise, consult and negotiate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders provides benefit to my clients and employer as I am able to support parties to find the most appropriate supports and information for their situation. My use of conflict coaching helps clients transition from strong positions to creative solutions.  My experience and understanding of legal frameworks and the relevant State and Commonwealth legislation allows me support clients to negotiate an often foreign process at a time of high distress and anger.  I wish to apply my skills in the community to empower people to develop the capacity to resolve their own disputes and contribute to strengthening relationships in the Queensland and Australian Communities.
