I have been involved with Softec since 1996, and this is my third term as President. At the end of this term, I will pass my LinkedIn Softec profile to the next President so the network connections in our community will outlive me. My mission in life is to improve our business community by connecting people. The strength of our business community comes from connections between its members. Softec's mission is to create Softec moments where people connect, discuss ideas, and create business opportunities. As Softec's President, I am laser-focused on being the super-connector for the local tech industry. Hundreds of local businesses have one or more Softec moments in their story, and I am dedicated to creating more. Softec is tech focused, but in this day and age, it is impossible to run a business without a tech strategy, so all businesses are prospective members if they want help connecting. Softec would be just as proud of helping a new restaurant or car wash as we would be of a new SaaS business. Building a business takes a team and a community. The claim of a business built by a single person never survives the light of day. The media publishes this myth, but I have never seen a story hold up to detailed exploration. Business formation and growth require Makers, Marketers, and Managers, and one person can't be all three. Businesses are built by teams, and superstar stories are for lazy reporters seeking a sizzling headline. Softec's mission is to manage the business formation community investment entrusted to us by our sponsors. Softec is the only local business group focused on new business formation. Our community has Chambers, SBDCs, Reach, Economic Development Managers, and others that serve the existing business community with a recruit and retention strategy. Softec is focused on business formation and key person team building. We are creating a tech business community with an entrepreneurial spirit as a core value.
