My role at Telstra was to work with customers to design managed network solutions. I have worked with every type of industry: government, banking, mining, health, retail, not-for-profit, corporate, telco, energy, manufacturing and emergency services. The networks I have designed cover the entire range of data and IP networks, security, internet, data centre design, cloud integration, UC/voice and managed services solutions.

Advantra was a joint venture between Telstra and IBM, specialising in managed IT services. My role was as a Solution Architect designing network solutions for Advantra customers, very similar to my current role at Telstra. In 2003, Advantra was fully incorporated into Telstra, becoming part of Telstra’s managed network services.

In 1997, AAPT was awarded the “VicOne” contract to provide a single whole-of-government managed network for all Victorian state government departments. My role at AAPT was to work with individual government departments to design their VicOne IP data networks. VicOne was one of the first large scale multi-tenant IP networks built in Australia.
