Joint Stock Company Macedonian Power Plants is a state-owned company operating the largest portfolio of electricity generation in Republic of Macedonia, as well as a district heating network in Skopje – the Capital City. The generation portfolio of the company includes thermal power from coal, hydro, wind and natural gas (CHPP).The projects development division is in charge of continuous planning and development of new projects facilitating the development of the energy sector in the Republic of Macedonia.Main duties: - Ensuring the company policies are up-to-date with the national and international (particularly European) environmental policy and regulation. - Interaction and cooperation with various stakeholders, including national authorities and institutions, international agencies, companies, IFI donors etc, in order to implement state-of-the-art technologies and practices in development of energy projects;- Preparation of company’s annual environmental reports for: Air quality, water discharge quality, environmental investment portfolio;- Management of the environmental permitting processes for development of energy projects and related infrastructure facilities, including prefeasibility and scoping, management of delivery of various studies ( e.g. ESIA, SEA), interaction with relevant permitting authorities, management of the public consultation with various stakeholders including the civil society sector;- Support in activities concerning environmental issues as part of the Development strategy of the Company.

It covers analysis and understanding of various aspects of potential environmental impacts that occur during use of different fuels in Thermal Power Plants, and abatement techniques in place to mitigate the adverse impacts covering EU countries and Western Balkans.The EEB is the largest network of environmental citizens’ organizations in Europe. It currently consists of around 150 members in more than 30 countries (all EU Member States plus some accession and neighboring countries), including a growing number of European networks, and representing some 30 million individual members and supporters. The EEB tackles Europe’s most pressing environmental problems such as climate change, biodiversity, emissions to air, water, soil, chemical pollution, as well as policies on industry, energy, agriculture, circular economy, product design and waste prevention. Primarily EEB’s work focus on the EU and its decision-making processes, including wider regional and global processes, at the level of the UN and the OECD, in particular on the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development.It is European umbrella organization that covers such a large number of environmental policy issues and is at the same time open to membership for all bona fide NGOs active in the field of the environment.The EEB work is divided in number of division/groups including: Mercury, Chemicals, Agriculture, Climate change, Industrial Production etc. The main purpose of the groups is to follow the implementation of EU environmental legislative for particular target group, actively participating during decision-making processes for updating of EU Directives improving the environmental quality level.
