I am Jan Goran Tomacruz, a faculty member of the Department of Chemical Engineering in the University of the Philippines Diliman. I completed my M.Sc. Chemical Engineering degree and achieved Magna Cum Laude from my B.Sc. Chemical Engineering degree from UP Diliman. My research interest has consistently been focused on the discovery and analysis of electrocatalytic materials geared towards emission reduction and energy storage.My research work in the Laboratory of Electrochemical Engineering (LEE) over the years has helped me develop countless hard and soft skills. For instance, I have become well-versed in quantum molecular modelling using Density Functional Theory (DFT) and am currently building Machine Learning models using Python 3 for my thesis. As a result, I am currently leading the computational materials design research activities of LEE through various funded projects. I am also actively co-mentoring undergraduate students who are interested in electrochemistry, in the hopes that they too will lead electrochemistry research activities in the future.
