Mr. Chanen has worked in Seattle since 1982 in the venture capital & private equity markets as an investment banker, project finance specialist, and institutional investor. He is currently engaged in development of corporations involving electric vehicles, EV battery technology, aviation biofuel, next-generation flight/engine technology, molecular biology and advanced defense systems. He is the Chief Development Officer of EV-BAT, Inc., leads business development for sister companies Symbiol LLC and sister company Plus Power, LLC, and, in conjunction with famed entrepreneur Dr Pano Churchill, is CFO, respectively, of 24 Meds RX and Noblhouse Inc. For 2 decades, he was CEO of Capital Access, LLC (an SEC/FINRA-regulated boutique investment bank in Seattle whose team included both a former Seattle Mayor and a 4-term congressman) that managed financings in sectors including alternative energy, affordable housing, power transmission, biotech, supercomputers, 3D printing, radio broadcasting, on-line video game-platforming, specialty retailing, software, wine-bottle manufacturing, luxury hotels, and personalized genomic medicine. His experience includes raising equity capital, debt restructuring, international technology licensing, and arranging mergers and acquisitions. Before becoming an investment banker, Mr. Chanen worked as a portfolio manager and financial analyst with Laird Norton Trust Company, a wealth management and private equity firm founded by a former chairman of Weyerhaeuser, where he was responsible for helping select and monitor a portfolio of investments, including venture capital, oil & gas, and real estate investments made both directly and via side-by-side partnering with leading venture capital funds. Mr. Chanen holds a BA in urban studies from George Washington University, a Special Course Certificate in urban economics from University College in London, and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. Mr. Chanen, an Eagle Scout (with two Eagle Scout sons), has been active in both Scouting and Seattle Downtown Rotary (the world’s 4th oldest Rotary Club). He previously served on the advisory boards for Aegis Living, Technology International Exchange, Blood Cell Storage, Inc., and the international accountancy/consulting group FY International. Prior to graduate school, Mr. Chanen served two terms as President of the Northwest Venture Group and as a director of Seattle's M.I.T. Enterprise Forum, the National Association of Venture Forums, and Washington State's Cascadia Rural Development Investment Fund.
