I was responsible for all programmes relating to chronic disease, allied health, children’s health and parenting, youth support services, aged care, counselling, social work, residential mental health, victims of crime assistance and family violence, refugee health, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. I had five senior managers reporting to me and was a member of cohealth’s Executive Leadership Team.Achievements:• Established mechanisms to monitor performance against targets at clinician and team level that assisted improvement against target from 86% to 93% in a few months.• Directed a re-allocation and refurbishment of space in one of our health centres to enable the establishment of a new model for physiotherapy and exercise physiology that greatly increased capacity and outcomes for clients.

I managed four teams encompassing public health promotion, refugee and asylum seeker health, client intake and assessment, and community mental health service planning for cohealth and three other agencies in north western Melbourne. Combined, these teams had 60 staff and a budget of AUD$4.5m. I managed partnerships with other agencies, funders and government to influence policy and health program developmentIndividually, I led the development and implementation of two organisational wide strategies: health literacy; and gender equity and family violence. I was a member of cohealth’s Senior Management Team.Key achievements:• Trebled the capacity of a health promotion program which then won the national Australian Human Rights award for tackling race-based discrimination.• Developed and implemented cohealth’s first organisational-wide health literacy plan that made cohealth national leaders in this area. • Developed an evaluation framework for multiple programmes to report outcomes at a team and aggregated level.

NEP are now working with Government to expand the pilot nationwide. - Influenced the Government’s policy on the desired number of primary school teachers meaning that they have increased the numbers to be recruited annually

I managed policy and parliamentary affairs for both charities to influence health and social care policy. I built relationships with Ministers, senior opposition politicians, civil servants, local authorities and media representatives writing reports and briefing papers for them.
