I am an environment and water resources management professional with over 20 years of experience in the water resources sector. My main areas of expertise include environmental risk assessment and management, in addition to water resource policy and planning.I am managing the environmental aspects of Sunwater’s current project to repair Paradise Dam on the Burnett River. My role also includes obtaining required State and Commonwealth approvals for the future Dam Improvement Project phase.In 2019, I was based in Laos and provided water management advice to the Research Institute for Energy and Mines in regard to hydropower dams.Prior to this, I spent over ten years at Sunwater as environmental manager. Sunwater’s assets consist of dams, weirs, pump stations and irrigation channel networks located in regional Queensland. My primary role was to manage Sunwater’s environmental risks in diverse regions across the state ranging from the tropical north to more arid inland areas and also including Great Barrier Reef catchments on the eastern seaboard.Based on a sound understanding of both Queensland and Commonwealth water resources legislation, I also provided expert advice and led the development of Sunwater’s policies and procedures to ensure legislative compliance.I was a key contributor to the development of the Headworks Utilisation Factor methodology which continues to be used in setting Sunwater’s irrigation water prices, under Queensland Competition Authority oversight.
