A statewide filmmaker cooperative based in Berkeley, CA that embraces alternative methods of teaching and developing skills in film and media arts. The center has created films for local concerts, Oakland Jazz Festival and Stern Grove Summer Concert Events, and to showcase the talent of artists and filmmakers with impairments.

Identified and evaluated investment opportunities by directing programs of business research and analysis of candidate companies to determine internal structures, profitability, key players, competition, profit centers, and market potential. Companies included B2B, B2C, e-publishing, streaming media, interactive television, broadband infrastructure, web hosting, secure transaction networks, wireless networks and e-commerce applications.

Focused on developing new and emergent technologies for telecom integration and applications for prototype telecom/Internet related business developments. We developed and operated the first broadband cable modem network to provide symmetrical high performance networking that supported novel applications with peer-to-peer, one-to-many video conferencing and video-on-demand with 3D simulated environments serving as the user interface. SATCOM advanced testing of new concepts for video services such as voice-over IP and multipoint business conferencing, enabling e-commerce and context awareness in a localized portal.

Directed the development of a cable modem network—the cable industry's first commercial market trial of cable data services—and piloted the first introduction of interactive television services. I designed and developed data services architecture, new e-commerce business models and service concepts to enhance the power of this new interactive technology.

Provided high-level technical analysis, assessment and strategic business development roadmaps to align technology development plans for Internet/Intranet technologies, application development, network communications and service platforms with competitive business drivers. Achieved industry recognition for accessible systems and product design solutions.

Directed start-up and acquisition of NASDAQ public shell and subsequent reverse merger of a company focused on developing integrated hardware and software for motion picture and television. Served as initial CEO and provided post-merger technical consultation to board of directors and executive management, to advance business development that led to the company’s current broadband networking focus.

Active member of a five-person council responsible for directing a $65 million grant program to fund the development of tools, applications, and technologies capable of benefiting from high performance networking. We helped define user requirements, key applications and performance of technologies to create enhanced user experiences.

Directed international business, manufacturing, marketing and investor-relations developments with the executive management team from startup to IPO. I oversaw the development of new products, market research methodologies and investor and business communications strategies, earning me the 1990 TELLY Award for Outstanding Corporate Television.

Directed curriculum development that included the production of documentary television program series, a satellite distribution network, telecasting studios, mediated classrooms and interactive videos, disks and kiosks. Led the design of instructional television centers for the Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Directed marketing strategies for all GO-VIDEO consumer electronic products, including the design and development of US WEST “Home of the Future,” which demonstrated advanced applications of interactive television and home networking.
