Gordon has worked in the philanthropic sector in Canada and Bermuda, in both leadership and volunteer positions, for over 25 years. He is a proponent of aligning "money and meaning" and applies this ethos in counselling diverse non-profit organizations in health and wellbeing, arts and education sectors. In Bermuda, Gordon led the establishment of two endowment funds - The Duperreault Fellowship and the C.V. Zuill Scholarship. He facilitated a relationship with US-based Caron Treatment Centers to found its first international subsidiary (Caron Bermuda - now Pathways) and was Caron Bermuda's first Regional Vice President. Gordon led the resurgence of the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse and oversaw a multi-million dollar campaign in support of the establishment of The Council Partners Charitable Trust, a funding vehicle for five Bermudian agencies providing addiction treatment and prevention services. In Nova Scotia, Canada, Gordon counselled Windhorse Farm, a sustainably managed forest and working farm, providing guidance for the establishment of funding streams that support the farm’s long-term goals and objectives. In collaboration with noted development professional James Hodge, Gordon developed “The Essence of Generosity,” a series of training programmes and workshops that explores the importance of meaningful relationships in developing legacy gifts. Gordon is certified in Appreciative Inquiry and trained in the Art of Hosting. He is a graduate of Jim Lord’s Philanthropic Quest programme and holds a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Harvard Business School's Executive Education programme. He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and serves as President of AFP's Bermuda chapter.
