The David Geffen School of Medicine is an internationally recognized leader in research, medical education, and patient care. The medical school today has more than 2,700 clinical faculty members, 1,200 residents and fellows, 740 medical students and 490 Ph.D. candidates. Gordon was selected by former University of California (UC) President Janet Napolitano to serve as a founding member of her 20-person Fiat Lux Alliance advisory council. Today, the committee advises current UC President Michael Drake and UC leadership on an assortment of initiatives vital to the advancement of the university’s priorities.

The UCLA Center for Biomedical Innovation will provide a transparent environment for collaborative research among academia, industry, and government, supported not only by the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, but also through cross-campus relationships such as those with the UCLA Anderson School of Management, the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the UCLA Office of Intellectual Property (OIP). This interdisciplinary approach will allow the CBI to bring many life-improving therapies to the public faster by removing the obstacles to the development of biomedical discoveries.

Advise the school board on fiscal issues facing the school district. Chairman of the bond subcommittee which works closely with the districts CFO and financial advisor on the issuance of the three bond measures of $325MM, $268MM and new approved authorization of $485 million.

A state-mandated committee under the education code to satisfy the accountability for reviewing, monitoring and informing the public through inspections and an annual report of the district’s use of the two bond issuances, totaling $593 million.

The CMFA is a Joint Powers Authority to assist local governments, non-profit organizations and businesses by promoting economic, cultural and community development, with the financing of economic development and charitable activities throughout California.
