I lead the Association for Cultural Enterprises, a charity and trade association that exists the help cultural venues maximise their income streams. As CEO, my role is to provide inspirational leadership and strategic vision to develop the Association, ensuring a sustainable business model that successfully and creatively serves our members and wider sector both now and in the future I am responsible for the overall operational and strategic leadership of the organisation and it is my passion is to help cultural venues to develop and thrive.

I was CEO of the industry body which represents the visitor attractions sector in Scotland. With over 280 member organisations and over 500 individual attractions, I led one of the largest and most influential tourism associations in the country. As CEO, I oversaw the strategic development of the organisation and was responsible for the operational running of the company. I led on all the day to day functions within the organisation, including the delivery of key member benefits, lobbying and networking on behalf of the attractions industry, overseeing company finances and HR. A key part of my role was to be an ambassador not only for the organisation, but for the visitor attractions sector within the wider tourism environment. I worked alongside key stakeholders such as the Scottish Government, VisitScotland and The Scottish Tourism Alliance, ensuring that the views of the attractions sector were always considered and recognised in matters of tourism policy.

As Commercial and Visitor Services Manager, I was part of the senior management team at Museums & Galleries Edinburgh. I was responsible for commercial activity and visitor experience across the portfolio of museums, galleries and monuments run by the City of Edinburgh Council, including the Scott Monument, City Art Centre and the Museum of Childhood.

In this role I was responsible for the national delivery of VisitScotland's Visitor Attraction Grading Scheme. I worked closely with key partners, such as ASVA, HES, NTS and NMS, as well as many individual attractions, helping to develop and improve the quality of visitor experience across the visitor attractions sector.

As a Quality Advisor I was responsible for assessing, grading and advising a wide variety of accommodation providers and visitor attractions in Scotland under the VisitScotland Quality Assurance Grading Scheme. Following a successful career as a Quality Advisor, in 2010 I was promoted to the role of Quality Advisor Manager.

Working to a tight time scale, I set up from scratch a lively music venue and bar in the heart of Edinburgh’s city centre. I managed the budget and controlled stock levels, as well as hiring and training a helpful, friendly and efficient bar staff. Working with my business partner, I established a bar which achieved critical acclaim in both the local and national press.
