About Gordon Stuart

Copywriting is something I love doing. I’ve worked as an agency copywriter (or creative director) continuously since October 1985. I have a lot of affection for all the brilliant people I’ve worked with over the years, perhaps most notably the award-winning team at 94.7 Highveld Stereo. My stint at 94.7 was the only time I worked outside of the traditional ad agency set-up, but that position was similarly focused on advertising copywriting. Whilst employed by the station I wrote a large number of radio commercials and promotions – and enjoyed the opportunity of producing most of them. Radio production is a subtle art – and one that should get a lot more attention than it generally does. In total I’ve worked on about 370 accounts in my career (as of 2014) and hope to tackle many more. I must pay tribute to the late Owen Mundel who helped me tremendously in developing my creative skills. Thanks Owen. And thank you for visiting my LinkedIn site – irrespective of whether you were specifically looking for me, or just happened to stumble in! I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1983. My major subjects were English and Legal Theory and my minors: History, Philosophy, Latin and Afrikaans Letterkunde. In 1987 I was selected as 1 of 10 candidates to take part in the AAA Manpower Development Programme of that year, and during this time worked as a trainee copywriter at Partnership in Advertising & Marketing and Lindsay Smithers-FCB (now known respectively as Publicis and Draft-FCB).
