Working with Gordon was fun, challenging and energising, he has a keen intellect, is outcome focussed and hard working. We shared an immense task, form a single test function, bring in a new partner and drive excellence in what was a fractured and difficult set of legacy components. Gordon laid out the principles, plan and the outcomes to be delivered, at no point did he settle for second best or compromise the best interests of the business. He brought the team together, set out a vision and worked long hours for 6 months to deliver what was then, and is now a great test service that supported a business undergoing huge change. Once the change was complete and performing, Gordon wisely chose to move on, he rightly understood that he would have been in a redundant role, making minor tweaks to a great model. He had reached the point of maturity where he understood his value and it was time for the next big challenge. Writing this short review reminds me of all of Gordon's qualities, his courage to argue with his boss when he was right, and the courage to return and admit when he was not so right. His commitment and care for his team, his ability to lead, not just to manage. To set out a vision, communicate and articulate to every audience member and stakeholder and gain the buy in to deliver. He also understands his craft and the upstream impact of great test gates and how to influence the design and delivery to get it right and assure quality.
