I’m Gordon and I love building things. I have 20 years of experience developing all kinds of software and almost 10 years forming empowered teams all over the globe.I started my career working for startups making websites and mobile apps before I was drawn to engineering data. In that capacity I enjoyed constructing intelligent web crawlers, data aggregation pipelines, metadata matching systems, and the like.Even today if you look up where to watch a TV show or movie, odds are your answer was powered by code I authored.More recently I’ve been brought in to manage tech organizations in high-growth areas: hiring, training, architecting, and refactoring to be able to deliver flagship products for high profile customers. At Gracenote Video and Sports, and more recently Nielsen Sports and Games, we’ve been able to do that while delivering some really fun technology: international-scale sites and APIs, machine learning workflows to recognize thousands of brands over millions of hours of video, data pipelines making sense of billions of pieces of information daily, and many more.My startup background taught me to love experimentation and rapid feedback cycles. My bigger company years have taught me the satisfaction of creating products with global impact.In both environments I’ve learned (over and over) that it's the people who determine success.So my primary focus is always on building engaged, diverse teams and forging strong partnerships to ensure that we have clarity of purpose and the tools we need to achieve our vision.
