I am directly responsible for the design and implementation of the Orbbec SDK platform, which enables customers to efficiently, correctly, and effortlessly utilize our machine learning capabilities and integrate with Orbbec products. I take the learning models from our research scientists and create robust, efficient implementations; delivering high performance ML capabilities to our customers. In my current role, I manage software developers in both the US and China, and coordinate with multiple departments and teams across a variety of disciplines as well as deeply diving into technical challenges and leading my team to find the correct solution. Being an early hire, I had a major role in determining our design and engineering philosophies, overseeing the training of software development staff, and setting up and managing our continuous integration and software quality assurance resources. I oversee and contribute to projects that involve machine learning, cloud-based ML platform services, computer vision, and hardware integration. I was responsible for developing a scalable cloud-based ML training system for full-body joint recognition. My efforts enabled this system to scale to thousands of CPU cores and terabytes of RAM running on an AWS EC2 cluster. I was also responsible for the creation of the company’s unified software development kit. I collaborated with C-level executives to determine product strategy and was responsible for setting the technical direction for software teams. My software development experience and leadership contributed to Orbbec’s success as we grew from 30 employees to 500 employees and recently exceeded a valuation of one billion US dollars.

Led efforts to adopt, integrate, and explore emerging hardware and software technologies. Responsible for the user experience design and development of software solutions for consulting clients. Mentored junior and intermediate developers.Tasked with imagining novel uses of emerging and existing technology for forward-thinking clients, I performed research and development to enable new capabilities, created prototypes of new experiences, and coordinated with team members to integrate and deliver complete solutions to our clients. I challenged customers to consider options that were at the fringes of their imagination yet within our team’s capability to deliver. My team and I implemented proofs of concept and delivered production-ready implementations by using an iterative design process that involved key customer stakeholders, resulting in our team being recognized as a company-wide leader in both customer satisfaction and repeat business.To meet increasing demand for our niche skills, I led the implementation of a test-first development practice, collaborated with team members to standardize our interactive design language, and created well-tested, reusable frameworks that satisfied common design scenarios. Responsible for the design and development of web and desktop applications for consulting clients as well as the technical leadership of small two and three member teams.Tasked with contributing to and supporting multiple teams and customer projects, I filled the roles of tech lead, mentor, senior developer and customer liaison as required. I ensured projects were on the right track by reviewing their progress and making any necessary adjustments ranging from slight changes to technical approach to major course corrections.
