Chair - Executive Board MemberScottish Confederation Of Park Home Residents Associations - Scophra Jun 2024 - PresentI am the Chair of the SCOPHRA board of Executives, dealing with Scottish Governmental departments and ministers, MSP’s, Councillors, Councils and Residents to ensure all deployed laws are followed and giving guidance for better legislation going forward. This is a non-profit organisation that supports elderly, vulnerable and often disabled residents of Park Homes. This is very much a consultation type role, understanding the detailed legislation, etc. and sharing that knowledge whilst proposing better solutions for all concerned. • Initiated discussions with Minister for Energy and the Environment and Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs to raise the many roadblocks Park Home residents encounter to ensure they can select and utilize alternative fuel solutions to secure a greener and more cost-effective Energy answer.• Highlighted that introducing easier access to energy efficiency measures for park homeowners, such as solar panels, would be very beneficial to them, however, it tends to be the case that landlords/park owners are reluctant or unable to make the investment.• Raised the issue with Scottish Housing Minister that development of Park Homes is a fantastic, cost-effective way to get additional housing and to get it quickly, thus assisting with the current lack of bricks and mortar homes.• As an organisation we are rolling out training across Scotland to ensure all relevant bodies understand the rules and guidelines around Park Homes. This should make the transition from bricks and mortar housing to Park Home easier and more pain free for people going forward. -
