In this role, I develop, maintain and run automation for provisioning, patching and operational support of Oracle Databases running on-premise and in the AWS cloud. Oracle versions supported range from 11.2.0.4 - 19c and include single database, RAC, Data Guard, and Exadata data instances. Ansible is the primary automation tool. The main scripting languages used are bash shell, python, sql and pl/sql.Currently I am working on the database work stream for the company's next generation AWS cloud platform. Mostly CloudFormation, custom resources to support RDS provisioning via. AWS Service Catalog.Recent playbooks created include:- Playbook to dump AWS RDI am currently working on a tool to schedule automated shutdown and startup of AWS RDS instancesS describe information across accounts to csv and email recipients- Playbook which performs minor update of RDS instances across many accounts during standard corporate patching window- Playbook that dumps AWS RDS automated backup information across accounts to csv and emails to recipients.- Playbook that dumps AWS account information from DynamoDB and emails to recipients.- Playbook that checks Oracle database jobs that have run in last x days but not in last n days.I am part of a major migration project moving 115 Oracle instances on 12 legacy physical servers to on-premise VM's and AWS EC2/RDS. I wrote a python script that pulls Oracle historical sysmetric data from Oracle databases. Python mostly used the cx_oracle, paramiko and csv packages. The data was loaded into Tableau and used for sizing the new hosts for the Oracle databases. This allowed us to easily visually determine the iops, storage, throughput, memory and cpu required for the new environments. I am currently preparing to sit for the new AWS Certified Database Specialty Exam.
