Gordon Tepper is the Long Island Press Secretary for Governor Kathy Hochul. In addition to previously serving as a director of communications in both government and higher education, he has led public relations and marketing efforts for Long Island and New York City-based professional service firms.His responsibilities have included crafting strategic communications plans, serving as official spokesman, writing and distributing press releases, editing publications, launching successful social media campaigns, and managing day-to-day website operations. Gordon’s public relations efforts have led to his management teams being quoted in such publications as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg Businessweek. He has also facilitated media interviews with all of the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN). Additionally, his superior writing skills have helped secure several distinguished accolades, including Best Places to Work in New York City (Crain’s New York Business), Best Companies to Work for in New York (SHRM), Best Beaches in the United States (USA Today), America’s Cleanest Beaches (Newsweek), and Innovative Firm of the Year (Leading Edge Alliance).Prior to his communications career, Gordon taught elementary school on Long Island and spent his summers as a government IT specialist. While in college, he interned in the New York Rangers public relations department at Madison Square Garden and was a member of the team’s game-night staff. Gordon also has a background in radio and television production, working briefly as a voice-over artist.He has been named to the Long Island Business News 40 Under 40, a prestigious award that honors young business and community leaders, and he is a former recipient of the Achievement in Communications award from the International Association for Business Communicators (IABC). Gordon is a past member of the board of directors at ACDS, a Long Island-based organization dedicated to providing lifetime resources of exceptional quality, innovation, and inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities and their families. He is also a past board member of the IABC, having served as the communications chair for the Long Island chapter. Gordon received a Bachelor of Science in Communications from the State University of New York and a Master of Science in Education from Hofstra University.
