Generally, I am interested in reimagining social services and the social contract, and in community development and social cohesion. For the last several years I have been focused on social research and development--using social sciences and design thinking to prototype new roles, practices, partnerships, mindsets and approaches within the community living sector. More recently I've been exploring ethical and relational foundations for this work as well as ways for social services to better address human flourishing--including the ability to attend to soul needs such as the need for beauty, hope, humour, love, creativity, reflection and the sacred. I am also interested in understanding systems and system change, and in the role of social movements, the arts, humanities and popular media in shifting sociocultural norms, overcoming divides and differences, and building more inclusivity.
