Kia ora! My name is Gorjan Markovski. The name is Macedonian but I’ve been NZ based since my parents and I flew over here in 1996 to make our new home.I have been a movie fanatic throughout my life, with an extensive background in all things film including production, sales, marketing, programming and exhibition; giving me strong insight into both the creative and business sides of the art form.In any area of film I venture in, these are the values that guide me:- Creative Direction - challenging industry conventions and market orthodoxy to connect with people in inventive and personal ways.- Cultivating community - making sure what I do fosters a sense of local identity and community belonging.- Team Building - challenging hierarchical structures and making decisions that encourage my team to contribute their very best.- Secure Processes - creating clear operational structures so that my team and my clients have clarity, confidence and a sense of security in what I do.I’m currently in my eighth year at Auckland’s iconic Academy Cinemas, curating memorable cinematic experiences that has made our quirky underground theatre a favourite of cinephiles from around the country.
