About Gorka Vélez Isasmendi

Gorka Vélez received his M.Sc degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Mondragon (Spain) in 2007, and his Ph.D. from the University of Navarra (Spain) in 2012. He is currently leading the Connected and Cooperative Situation Awareness research line at the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Engineering department of Vicomtech. He is the Technical Coordinator of the 5GMETA project (https://5gmeta-project.eu/), and he is involved in several other R&D projects where he leads the Vicomtech team. His research interest is the application of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in the transportation and industrial sectors. He has authored more than 30 scientific articles in journals and conferences, and he has served as a reviewer in several Q1 journals. He also represents Vicomtech in the ETSI ITS Working Groups and in the 5G-PPP CAM Working Group.
