In 1997, I graduated from Northern Illinois University, and started teaching kindergarten in a large school district in Southern California. In 1999, I started to take a few coding classes in Visual Basic.In 2000, I began writing code for an assessment tool to streamline the kind of one-on-one assessment I was administering on paper. For 5 years I built it and gave it away to the teachers around me (60 of them).In 2005, I partnered with a business-savvy friend, and hired programmers to build the program online. Two years later, in 2007, I left the classroom to support and grow the company, full time.In Oct 2019, ESGI sold to Riverside Insights, an amazing company equally as committed to helping teachers, and improving the education of children.I cannot begin to describe the amazing journey that it was, or quantify how much I learned through the process.
