Sustainabilty & Diversity Educational Programs Manager

UC Merced’s Office of Sustainability works to advance environmental sustainability and social justice, with a central focus on advancing multi-culturally relevant and inclusive approaches to caring for the environment. The Office of Sustainability critically evaluates its own communications, approaches and priorities to environmental efforts in order to reduce bias and elevate the voices of UCM's increasingly diverse campus community. As the Sustainability and Diversity Educational Programs Manager, I supported the Office of Sustainability’s existing programs, as well as advanced further innovation in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and research for sustainability and environmental operations at UCM. My responsibilities included:• Collaborating with the Multicultural Center, including supporting faculty-led academic research efforts and student programming efforts.• Supporting partnerships and effective co-programming with the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.• Supervising interns working on a variety of programs and initiatives including social/environmental justice and equity, multi-culturally inclusive sustainability, employee sustainability education, academic research and sustainability projects.• Designing and implementing equitable, sustainability approaches for projects, programs, strategic plans and policies• Providing support and training for Environmental/Sustainability Organizations on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice to assist in developing a more representative organization and to increase their connection to and impact in communities of color and low-income communities.• Utilizing story-telling and story-collection to help connect the UC Merced community connect more deeply into sustainability work, support campus leadership in this work, and build better cross-program understanding.
