My family has been a big contributor to the heritage of the Prairie Band of the Potawatomi Nation. My Grandfather Warner Tony Coffin was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame and was a contributor to Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, KS. from 1940-1966 where he received the Secretary of Interiors Highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award. He also coached many notable athletes there including Olympic Champion Billy Mills (Running Brave), in 1980 Haskell dedicated it's new Sports Complex, "The Coffin Sports Complex" in honor of his service. My Father John Douglass Coffin who also grew up in Kansas has been a Native American Artist his entire life doing symbolic Paintings, and contemporary totems ranging from 12' to 36' tall. His works have been installed at the exterior and interior of many Casinos including our own Harrah's in Mayetta, KS.. In addition his works have been collected by the White House (Jackie Kennedy rose garden), U.S. Embassy's throughout the world, and many private collectors as well. It is my great desire to continue the contributions of my family with my own voice and vision. I have recently started a Private equity Real Estate Fund, purchasing property in Southern California, something I have been involved with as a private investor and for other Hedge Funds as well. My strong belief is that a percentage of Native American revenue should be dedicated to buy and hold Real Estate, with each tribe holding Deed in their own name.
