Sure, here's a brief overview of a research experience involving remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (RS & GIS) in the field of geography:During my undergraduate studies in geography, I had the opportunity to participate in a research project that focused on analysing urban growth patterns in a rapidly developing city. The research aimed to understand the factors influencing the expansion of the urban area and to project future growth scenarios.My role in the project was to utilize RS & GIS tools and techniques to gather, process, and analyze spatial data. I began by collecting geospatial datasets, including satellite imagery, land use maps, population data, and infrastructure layers. These datasets were then integrated into GIS software where I performed spatial analyses.One of the key tasks was to create land use change maps over a time of several years. Using remote sensing techniques, I compared satellite images from different periods and classified the land cover into different categories such as residential, commercial, industrial, water bodies and green spaces. This allowed us to visualize how the urban landscape had transformed over time.
