I am an experienced research integrity and public health policy scientist with years of international experience in working at the cross section of policy and evidence synthesis. I have established and led several strategic and international expert advisory committees throughout my career, collaborating with organizations like the CDC in the US, WHO, Health Canada, NICE UK, and various public and private stakeholder groups. My hands-on experience working with diverse stakeholder communities and my training as a mixed methods methodologist enable me to recommend and implement evidence-based process and policy changes.Currently, I lead a large, complex research integrity and ethics study in four sub-Saharan African countries which aims to enhance research integrity and ethics governance of research conducted nationally and regionally in Africa. Previously, I designed and implemented one of the most comprehensive studies on research ethics and research integrity funded by the Dutch government, studying factors that promote and hinder responsible research conduct among academics. Leading this national four-year, half million euro project required high-level diplomacy, mixed methods expertise, and the ability to secure buy-in from diverse stakeholder groups, including academics, policymakers, the media, and the public.As an epidemiologist, some of my more significant contributions were during the 2003 SARS epidemic, for which I was honored with a national public service medal in recognition of my work towards the containment of the epidemic in Singapore. Shortly thereafter, I led Singapore’s first national biosafety and biosecurity policy framework to ensure the safe handling and movement of biological agents within and outside the country.
